Three Together

Acoustic Vocal Trio: Three accomplished musicians having FUN with baby boomer era Folk, Pop, and Soft Rock tunes using tight vocal harmonies.

These three musicians first met at an Open Mic in Vancouver, Washington, in the spring of 1994. Soon after flutist Judy Koch and acoustic guitarist Don Mitchell formed a duo and began performing local gigs. In 1997 Portland fingerstyle guitarist, Doug Smith, graciously agreed to help them with their CD project Sorting it Out.  Doug’s baritone voice and unearthly guitar playing added the ’touch of magic’ needed to create enticing vocal harmonies and soulful acoustic music reminiscent of the folk/pop/early rock craze in North America.

Three Together’s self-titled second album was started early in 2002 (along with a budding romance between Judy and Doug).  With even tighter vocal blendings on this album, are covers for some of their favorite artists from the 60’s and 70’s, including The Beatles, Peter Paul & Mary, CSNY, Van Morrison, The Hollies, and John Denver.  Just for fun Judy sneaked back to Cozy Dog Studio after ‘the wrap’ to add a surprise flute ending to the project.

Their latest CD, ALL OVER THE MAP, recorded fall 2005, is just that, adding more great artists’ songs such as, Homeward Bound, El Paso, Norwegian Wood, Four Strong Winds, Your Move/All Good People, Mr. Tanner, Dream, Dream, Dream, and You Were On My Mind.  Unlike the first two albums, this one sadly does not include an original piece by Doug Smith.

Three Together’s trademark at rehearsals and live performances is having FUN -- for us and our audiences.  Join us for a live performance to lift your spirit and sing along with great classic rock and folk music.”  You can also order these CD’s using the CDbaby link.  And if you’re in town for hockey or a ballgame, you may catch them singing the national anthem (U.S. and Canadian) at Portland Civic Stadium or the Rose Garden Arena!
